St Duthac Book & Arts Festival

I will be at the St Duthac Book & Arts Festival on Sunday 17th September, talking about my book “Daughters of the North: Jean Gordon and Mary, Queen of Scots”.

The St Duthac book festival is in Tain, which is one of the places strongly associated with Jean Gordon, and I’m looking forward to telling some of the stories from my book.

My talk is on Sunday 17th September from 4.30-5.30pm, at the Collegiate Church. Tickets are £5, and can be booked at this link: https://www.stduthacbookfest.com/copy-of-tickets

The Collegiate Church is a beautiful venue for events – and, in fact, in the very final stages of writing “Daughters of the North” I attended a memorable event held there as part of the St Duthac Book Festival, where the historical musical group Musick Fyne performed pieces from the 15th and 16th century, Jean Gordon’s era. It was one of the first live music events I attended after the covid lockdowns, and it was incredibly evocative, particularly as the choir walked through the building at the end, still singing as they left. You can see some photos from that event in this old blogpost from the St Duthac festival: https://www.stduthacbookfest.com/post/sublime-sunday
