University of Aberdeen May Event

On Saturday 18th May I will be talking about my book “Daughters of the North: Jean Gordon and Mary, Queen of Scots” at a special event at the University of Aberdeen.

‘Networking the Early Modern Past in North East Scotland’ is an afternoon event exploring networks and connections in the early modern north east of Scotland, and how we make connections from today with the experiences of the past. I will be talking about how I researched my biography of Jean Gordon, and about writing history for a wider audience.

There will also be talks from Andrew Gordon, Professor of Renaissance Literature and Culture at Aberdeen; Jane Pirie, Curator of Rare Books, Museums and Special Collections, University of Aberdeen; and other academics and representatives from the culture industry. I’m really looking forward to the discussions on history and how to share the stories of our past.

All are very warmly welcome to attend all or part of this free event. Further information and timings are available on the event website: https://www.abdn.ac.uk/collections/whats-on/20625/,

or go directly to book tickets via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/networking-the-early-modern-past-in-north-east-scotland-tickets-890230542517

I will have copies of my books available for sale on the day.
