This Saturday, 17th May, at 2pm, I am doing a talk in Waterstones Inverness, with Prof. David Worthington, head of history at the UHI, chaired by S.G. MacLean, author of “The Bookseller of Inverness”.
The talk will celebrate paperback publication of my book “Daughters of the North: Jean Gordon and Mary, Queen of Scots”, and David’s historical biography “Rev. James Fraser, 1634-1709: A New Perspective on the Scottish Highlands before Culloden”, and will be a wide-ranging discussion on ‘Researching and Writing Highland Lives’.
It’s free to attend, but Waterstones ask that people book a ticket: you can do this by popping into their shop in the Eastgate, or callling them on 01463 233500.

Full details are also on the Waterstones website here: https://www.waterstones.com/events/telling-their-stories-researching-and-writing-highland-lives/inverness
The three of us are looking forward to a discussion on how we research and write about the history of the Highlands and its people. If you check out the acknowledgements of each of our three books, you will see that we’ve been talking about history together for some time…
Myself and David have also previously worked together on this video: James Fraser.
Please note that the annual Classic Car Rally is on in Inverness on Saturday, so it might be busy in town!
