I am doing a talk in Brora this Thursday, 20th April, for the Clyne Heritage Society, about my book “Daughters of the North: Jean Gordon and Mary, Queen of Scots”.

The talk starts at 7pm in the Community Centre Lounge, at the rear of Brora Primary School. The talk is open to all, and admission and refreshments are free.
The talk is part of a series of events in March / April 2023 to celebrate the Clyne Heritage Society’s 25-Year Anniversary. Check out http://www.clyneheritage.com/ for more information about the Society, or search for ‘Clyne Heritage Society (Brora)’ on Facebook.
I’m really looking forward to talking about Jean Gordon in Brora – this is the area where she spent much of her later life, and where her actions had a huge impact. It was in Brora that Jean started her coal mine and salt panning business. The recent excavation of the salt store, and the re-creation of the salt pans, have been projects that I have followed with interest, and I look forward to discussing my own research into Jean’s life and family.
Copies of my book will be available to buy on the night.
